We hope not to miss the forest because of the trees and we hope not to miss the trees because of the forests. Exploring Isiah 41 today, we remember that focusing too much on a single verse out of context can change the sense of the Bible’s teaching; at the same time, ignoring a the plain meaning of a verse may not be true to the text. What to do? Enjoy! Playing with the possibilities is part of the fun…knowing that we’re playing with possibilities keeps us honest.
Simple hope is speaking to me today- growing from Isiah verse 41:6. No ambiguity for me here: ~~אִישׁ אֶת-רֵעֵהוּ, יַעְזֹרוּ\\ וּלְאָחִיו, יֹאמַר חֲזָק~~Each one will help [the] neighbor; and every one say to brother[s and sisters]: ‘Courage!’.
This sounds like the Messianic Era to me! All helping each other and neighbors and family with courage. On Friday, a friend called who is furthering building foundations for building what he calls Jewish-Arab-Muslim Reconciliation gatherings. “Count me in!” I said. I just sent a message back to an Imam friend as we are scheduling time for our families to catch up again next week . We know more connects us than divides us – won’t you please share with your friends – and maybe our blog readers – your multi-faith connections? They are the building-blocks for hope and peace.
Here’s the Biblical Hebrew Bonus – I hope you enjoy it!
