Long summer evenings here in Perth remind me of evenings at Camp Ramah decades ago in New York.  Dad was Camp Doctor and my older brothers were in campers’ cabins; because my younger brother and I were so small, we stayed with our parents in the Doctor’s Bungalow.   Although I was quite young, I remember how my parents relished the casual yet compelling Jewish conversation they shared with other volunteers and camp leaders as day slipped into starlit evening and they talked into the night.

This Shabbat,  Friday, 16 Jan, you too can farewell the receding day and workweek in congenial conversation under slowly emerging stars; welcome a time of quiet, connection, reflection and celebration in the Park with the Nefesh Chavurah (circle of Friends).  Enjoying the simple pleasures of summer, we’ll meet in the Gazibo of a neighborhood Melville Park at 6:00 pm.  After some time to visit and watch the kids play we’ll have a little service in song at 6:15.  Bring your own picnic or something to put on the grill, plus a salad, fruits, or something sweet to share.  We’ll enjoy a sample of Nachman of Breslov’s amazing stories to discover the delights and depths of his tales – extraordinary food for thought…and reason to be happy.  Call 0448-19-4448 or send an email for exact park location near the South of the River Beit Midrash.  All are welcome.  See you soon!
